The Swarovski crystal world is the second most visited place in Austria and certainly attracts people from all over the world, especially from Asian origin. As a kid, I was a huge fan, so my mum took us there. Our grand parents did too some years later. When I was 11 years old, I was amazed by one of the "Swarovskis", Victoria Swarovski to be precise, who is also a singer and who turned her video in the crystal world. However, since Swarovski was regularly on the news, but only because they fired another 100.000 people go or move their headquarter to Switzerland, I started to build up a strong dislike against the Austrian company. I refused to go there and stopped buying their products, or to wear the ones I already owned. In fact, I did never rethink again and told everyone about my opinion.
Thus, when an American friend asked me to take her there, I agreed, because I knew that she would die to go. So, last Sunday I took her to Wattens, she bought her ticket and i used my regional ticket that fortunately is valid there. I entered without any expectation, assuming that everything remained the same. Indeed, from the outside everything looked alike, as if time stood still. However, this was dumb to believe. How did i dare to be so ignorant. Surprisingly, everything was different, I did no longer recognise it. Furthermore, I could not help being enchanted. They really transformed the crystal world to the better. Whereas some years ago the exhibitions in crystal world were a bit too futuristic and crazy, now everything is so esthetically arranged and magical. I took my camera with me, and sore in all the inspiration to take some nice shots and to get inspired. I am a fashion enthusiast so i particularly liked the exhibition that showed some outfits including Swarovski crystals, like the Marlene Dietrich dress.
Summing up, this day felt a bit like heaven and definitely like Wonderland. I hope you like those two pictures that I chose. Fun fact: I started photographing without a memory card, but Livia saved me by loaning me hers.
